My most cherished fragrance right now is Dusita’s Rosarine. I bought this after watching this tiktok from Emma Vernon — I always trust her taste but I never recommend blind buying. I went to ZGO here in SF and tried a bunch of roses on my list, this was the clear winner. It’s sweet, spicy, woody and even has notes of jasmine, this one is so surprising and so layered. It’s the perfect rose to me (for now). I love Le Labo’s Rose 31, but Rosarine has a sweeter edge and just kind of sparkles on my skin in a way Rose 31 doesn’t. It lasts a long time on me and my boyfriend likes it, which while not essential, is nice.
Perfume Notes (aka links)
If you’re a newer subscriber you may not have read my favorite thing I’ve published here, the piece below highlighting all the scents we wore in our youth. It’s a fun one. I published it back in February when I had a fraction of the subscribers I have now. So check it out if you haven’t already read it! It might be the best thing I publish here. 🤷🏻♀️
Speaking of nostalgia, do you know about Basenote Bitch? It’s an amazing project created by photographer and editor Elizabeth Renstrom who documents how perfume is tied up in formative memories and how brands and bottles reflect the times. You can scroll through all the scents she’s created photos for on her website. It’s a trip down memory lane in the best way. You can also listen to her reviews and commentary for each photo.
Really enjoying
’s new Substack . Jenn has been editing and writing about beauty and fashion for a very long time and she creates one of my favorite podcasts with another bad ass gen x’er.Speaking of podcasts I have been obsessively listening to Perfume Room for the last couple of months. I went way back to the beginning and it’s honestly been a solid perfume education. Emma Vernon is an excellent host. My list of perfume brands and fragrances to try is ever growing thanks to her.
’s latest column for The Guardian is about fragrance and chasing something we all want but can rarely purchase.Reminder that I now have a survey for all paying subscribers - you answer questions, I make perfume recommendations just for you based on your answers. This has been really fun so far.
Nail Day 💅
OK on to the nails! I have a work trip coming up to LA and I wanted to get something kind of classic with a fun not too over the top twist. I got a really similar set about a year ago and that was my first time getting tortoise shell nails. I love the way Kim does these. There are so many layers in there they look almost 3D in real life. We picked the colors together and I loved how she did the thin lines and blobs the last time I had them done so she did more of the same.
There’s some gold leaf in there so they really have a nice sparkle in the sunlight. You can’t go wrong with a tortoise shell design.
Here’s a video so you can see them at all angles, also are you on Notes? Find me there if so!
That’s all friends! Hope all smells good in your corner of the world. I’ll be back soon with some home fragrance suggestions and a perfume line review I am losing my mind over I love it so much.

Your tort shell nails are👌🏻 Scents (like music we grew up with) are like memory elixirs. I remember when Olivia Kim (then at Opening Ceremony) was asked about her perfume in a street style/Style.com video and she said she layers Fahrenheit (which reminded her of high school dances) with Kiehl's Musk.
