Nail Day! 💅

My favorite day of the month.

I’ve been getting my nails done professionally by a nail artist since early 2019, it kind of blows my mind that it’s almost been 5 years. I go about once a month and it’s one of my favorite things to do for myself. No, it’s not really like regular nail salons where you can just walk in. Yes these are my real nails. No I am not worried about the gel or what the LED lamp is doing to me or that I always have polish on my nails. Yes I have seen the articles. No they don’t chip.

You can check out my many nail transformations in a highlight on my IG called NAILS. It was getting full so I just started a new one called Nails 2024. I’ve worked with two different nail techs, both amazing and creative and I feel so lucky I found them. This is Kim. I adore her. She’s been making my nails better since February of 2021.

Kim is going to Iceland soon so she did a fire and ice set on her nails. 🔥

I only see her at my nail appointments, but she has become a friend, and I would hang out with her outside of our appointments anytime. She probably knows more about me than some people who have been in my life for a very long time. I love when she works her magic on my nails but I also love seeing her and catching up on what happened in the weeks between visits. She’s truly the best.

I usually text her with some ideas or inspiration before an appointment but then I always just let her do her interpretation and I always like it. It’s fun talking about designs and colors and then watching her create these little masterpieces on my nails. Def check out her IG to see the many amazing sets she has created.

For the new year I wanted a light fresh set and I thought it would be fun to incorporate the word I was thinking about for 2024 which was ‘Less’. So that word was on one hand and on the other Kim did her galaxies, I love these little galaxies so much. This was a pretty subtle set. I usually go from subtle to bold, back and forth.

And here’s the fresh set! The idea actually came from my boyfriend who is constantly sending me nail art he sees on IG (💞). I am heading to Palm Springs in February and I thought this art deco 1950s vibe would keep me excited about that upcoming trip. I found some patterns and sent a bunch to Kim and then she worked her magic. I am obsessed with the results, maybe one of my favorite recent sets?!

Sharing my fresh sets and nail days will be a regular thing on here. I hope this is fun for you! It will be nice to have another place besides instagram where I can record these.

ALSO YOU GUYS!! To all of you who replied to my poll on IG asking about your childhood fragrances THANK YOU for your responses, there were so many and I am so excited to share the results with all of you. There were fascinating trends among generations and geography and so many surprising repeats. It’s going to be a fun post but it will take me a minute to gather all the data. I’m hoping to have it ready to go by next week!
